Our short history

Gosforth Sports Association was formed in July 2015 to secure the long term future of Gosforth Rugby Club and Newcastle City Cricket Club by taking a long term lease on Broadway West playing fields. We added Tyne Tees Tigers and Newcastle Nighthawks shortly after to create a new and unique sports facilities offering a great variety of sports.

In 2015 - the sports fields were in a poor state, with the Clubhouse rundown, the grounds poorly drained and the pitches uncared for.

Through the great efforts of the many volunteers who make up the 4 clubs, GSA have added a nature corridor planting 1500 trees and shrubs, replaced most fencing, fixed and added new drainage, reseeded and upgraded the grassed playing areas, installed floodlights, added a fully functional baseball diamond, completely refurbished the Clubhouse, installed a new car park and the work goes on.........

This does not come cheap and via fundraising, GSA and the 4 clubs have raised over £250,000 to improve the facilities.

The Clubhouse has a fully stocked bar with the Clubroom available for hire for functions or general meetings and other social activity.

And it doesn't stop there. We are delighted to add Gosforth Harriers and Newcastle Brown Ultimate to our growing family of Clubs. New to GSA in early 2023 - these clubs add new sports to our diverse  multi-sport site.
