There was a great turnout for the Newcastle Nighthawks baseball team, on their first match at their new home at Broadway West.
The Lord and Lady Mayoress of Newcastle came along to throw the first pitch, and they were joined by many enthusiastic (but chilly) supporters on the day. Hospitality was also in abundance with hot and cold drinks at the bar and a tasty bbq outside.
Thanks to all who supported, and volunteered to help on the day
Newcastle Nighthawks Baseball Club has recently joined GSA, and their first official match will be held at Broadway West on Sunday April 14th, with the Lord and Lady Mayoress on hand to start the opening ceremony. This will be a fantastic event for both the Nighthawks and GSA.
Volunteers from all our sports clubs have been working hard over the last two weekends, to repair, tidy, litter-pick, paint and clear our ground and clubhouse at Broadway. One of the major jobs has been to clear and strim the area around the cricket nets, which will allow better use of this important facility.
Thanks to all volunteers who have helped us out. There’s still plenty to do but its a great start.
A new fence has now been erected around the car park, and additional wire fencing at the entrance.
The low ‘birds mouth’ fencing along the private lane will be repaired or replaced in the next couple of weeks
